AA Savings has launched a new two-year, fixed-rate savings account that pays up to 2.25% gross/AER for those with savings of £50,000 or more. Withdrawals can be made but charges for doing so apply.

The account can be opened over the phone or online with as little as £1 and as much as £5 million (£10 million for joint accounts), but is subsequently administered by post.

For savings of up to £9,999.99, the fixed interest rate is 1.60% gross/AER; from £10,000 to £24,999.99 it is 1.80% gross/AER; for £25,000 to £49,999.99 it is 2.20% and for sums of £50,000 and above, it pays the top rate of 2.25% gross/AER.

Interest is calculated daily and either credited to the account or into a bank account each year on the anniversary date of the deposit.

Mark Huggins, director of AA Financial Services, says: “This is an easy-to-manage account from one of Britain’s most trusted brands, offering a competitive interest rate.”
